Trinities

Why Trinities Are Key to Understanding Manifestation

By Matthew Joyce

Have you ever noticed how spiritual traditions tend to break things down into basic trinities?

Body, Mind, Spirit. Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva. It’s not a coincidence. Trinities are the key to understanding how creation works and how to manifest the life experiences that you desire.

Too Much Information Causes Confusion

Throughout human history spiritual traditions have created complex systems for explaining the nature of reality, spanning from the physical realm to the ineffable and Absolute. Their cosmologies subdivide and categorize existence into multiple levels, worlds, sefirot, or planes and subplanes. Often times these cosmologies conflict. It can be quite confusing.

But you can bypass much of the confusion if you look for what they have in common. The simpler the comparison the easier it is to make sense of things. That’s where trinities come in.

How Trinities Simplify Things…Sort Of

Trinities are an age-old method for explaining how a unified whole consists of constituent parts. Consider Hinduism with its trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva. Brahma is the creative mind that brings the universe into being. Vishnu embodies and maintains it. While Shiva brings destruction, reducing things to their essence, which is the necessary precursor to start the creation cycle again.

Christianity presents a different trinity. It says there is only one God. Yet God consists of three parts: the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. To adherents of the faith this is fundamental doctrine. To outsiders it may make less sense.

How is it that 1 = 3? If you think of things as 1+ 1 + 1 = 1 then the math just doesn’t add up.

Fortunately it makes a bit more sense if you consider the modern trinity of body, mind, and spirit. At least this trinity seems to be talking about three aspects of a single being: You. You have a physical body, a mind, and an animating life force. Together they form the basis of who you are.

But how does this modern trinity fit with trinities of earlier traditions? And more importantly, how does all of this relate to manifesting the experiences that you desire?

Similarities in the Trio of Trinities

Let’s take a look at the various trinities side by side:

Father, Son, Holy Ghost

Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva

Body, Mind, Spirit

This is how the trinities are usually presented. But if you want to understand how manifestation and creation work, it makes more sense when they are rearranged by similarity, like this:

Father, Holy Ghost, Son

Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu

Mind, Spirit, Body

A Simpler Trinity

These sequences may seem out of their common order, but this arrangement makes it possible to reduce all three into yet another trinity that you can use to understand the process of manifestation and creation.

That trinity is:

Mind, Energy, Matter

The Key Trinity for Effective Manifestation

At their essence, all these trinities are describing how the creation process works from the origins of the cosmos to manifesting the experiences that you desire in your life.

Essentially what they are saying is that intelligence organizes and acts through a medium to cause an effect. And that too can be restated as a trinity:

Intelligence –> Medium –> Effect

This last trinity isn’t exactly mind-blowing at first glance, yet once you actually grasp the principle involved you can begin to see how you are already using it to create things in your life and where you are manifesting less than the optimal results you desire.

How to apply the trinity of intelligence, medium, and effect to consistently create the experiences you desire is a key topic in our Manifestation and Creation workshop. I hope you’ll consider joining us. To learn more click here.

One Response to Trinities

well now it’s about time somebody clarified the trinity for us. here we are bringing east and west together in easy to understand language. well all I can say is I’d like to spread this article high and low as liked it so much!
I’m going on to study the 7 bodies of each of us but the statement that too much information breeds confusion stops me.
as I am famous for confusing others by bombarding them with yards of stuff they didn’t ask for!

but perhaps I exaggerate. thanks for filling me with the holy ghost Matt! I have a dear friend was just expressing she as a part of “3”. I am going to give her your message as she may like it.
